Profile
Advait is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary, supervised by Dr. Les Sudak. His research focuses on the development of Low Power Laser Bed Powder Fusion of Ti64 alloy and TiC to additively manufacture lattice-like structures with novel unit cell designs for aerospace applications. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune, India.
Prior to joining the lab, Advait worked at the University of Calgary on the development of copper inks for flexible electronics and also worked on fabrication of solid electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. He was also a core member of the formula student team “Vishwaracers” during his undergraduate studies for three years, serving as Team Manager and Steering Lead. Advait’s design background also included participating in a group for patenting a Multi Utility Table and copywriting a design for the experimental setup for heat transfer parameters in a two-phase flow.
Outside of academics, Advait pursues squash, hiking, cooking and gaming, which inspire him in many ways on innovative ideas in additive manufacturing.
