Profile

Julia Tran is an undergraduate student studying mechanical engineering with a minor in aerospace engineering. She is currently researching the thermomechanical behaviour of additively manufactured composite materials to be used for satellite reflectors. Through her work, she performs finite element modelling to identify an optimal fibre orientation to minimize thermal deformations.

Julia is also a member of the Student Organization for Aerospace Research (SOAR) where she works on the propulsion team to design a spin caster for the manufacture of hybrid rocket fuels. She is passionate about space systems and hopes to contribute to the future of space exploration through advanced aerospace research and engineering innovation.

Outside of academics, Julia enjoys bouldering and crochet.
