Faculty members associated with the lab
Dr. Dennis Ryan Storosheko
Dr. Storoshenko has experience doing experimental work on a range of languages, using both online and offline measures. His research includes work on pronoun interpretation, and also concerns regarding experiment methodology. He serves as the administrative head of the lab.
Dr. Kyumin Kim
Dr. Kim is an Associate Professor at the Chungbuk National University, South Korea, and an Adjunct at the University of Calgary. With the lab, she is investigating the syntax of definiteness in with a particular focus on Korean and Mandarin.
Dr. Diego Krivochen
Dr. Krivochen's research focuses on how understanding the formal properties of grammars allows us to provide better syntactic analyses of linguistic data, and connect the study of syntax to that of complex systems that grammars characterise.
Graduate Students
Current graduate students working with the lab
Francisco Ongay González
Currently, Francisco is investigating prepositionless durative adverbials (e.g. when we say I slept eight hours instead of for eight hours), using psycholinguistic experimental methods to determine when it is acceptable to drop the preposition.
Jesse Weir
Jesse’s research focuses on phonetic effects of Empty Category elements (such as null pronominals) on English speech. Recent findings in their research supports the idea that ‘wanna-contraction’ effects can be observed in speech, even when uncontracted.
Xinyuan Xia
Xinyuan is broadly interested in experimental syntax, sentence processing, psycholinguistics, and formal syntax, working on wh-questions and coordinated structures in Mandarin, as well as relative-clause processing.

Maria Mercedes Estrada Caro
Maria’s research is on Embedded Clause Gapping in Spanish. Their research focused on native Spanish speakers’ processing of embedded and non-embedded gapping sentences. They also looked at how gender stereotypes impact the processing of these sentences.
Suhyeon Lee
Suhyeon is a 5th year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology and Linguistics (honours), with a minor in Anthropology. He is working on the ongoing Korean Demonstratives project, and is interested in psychology research involving cultural identity
