Quantum light for new technologies and fundamental discovery
A Canada Excellence Research Chair program led by Professor Urbasi Sinha, advancing photonic quantum science and technologies at the University of Calgary.
We develop quantum technologies by learning to control light at its most fundamental level. Our experiments use single photons and entangled states to explore new ways to process, communicate and measure information, while testing the principles that make these capabilities possible.
QuLIT builds on Professor Urbasi Sinha established research at the Quantum Information and Computing (QuIC) laboratory at the Raman Research Institute in India, while developing a distinct research program at the University of Calgary. By combining this expertise with Calgary's strengths in quantum memories, materials and photonics, QuLIT aims to establish new experimental capabilities, train researchers and contribute to Canada's growing quantum ecosystem.
QuLIT builds on this established body of research and connects complementary expertise through shared scientific questions, training and collaboration.
Our ambition is to turn this connected program into lasting Canadian capability: original science, skilled researchers and technologies that can grow from the laboratory into wider use.
Connected programs and institutions
Two laboratories, complementary research programs
QuLIT at the University of Calgary and QuIC at the Raman Research Institute pursue distinct research programs led by Professor Urbasi Sinha. Their complementary scientific interests and expertise create opportunities for collaboration, while each program develops its own research priorities and institutional capabilities."
